Gothenburg; the city of events

Today I planned to go to Hammarkulle festival (in a suburb of Gothenburg)

Its a 30 mins ride from the city...

Many foreigners were there...

Thus many people went to see the parade...

And the fire trucks...

Some information in different languages...

And some market...

And food from any corner of the world...

Both from inside and outside Europe...

Wafles from Belgium...

And later on the parade begun...

It was somehow scattered...

These people had medals...

Many people were watching from their home...this suburb is famous for having many immigrants...

However most cultures represented in the parade were from latin america...

With samba...

And some theater costumes...

More and more people were showing up from the balconys...

These guys looked like space men...pretty cool...

And some drag queen look alike...

Historically sweden have many chileans...since the swedish ambassaor helped many people out when there was a revolution there...

More music...

And some guys wearing a polar bear suit...

Nice latoni dress...

And more music...

"San Simon"...not sure what it is...some groups were bad in promoting who they were...

Even if it was a little cold...people were dressed for summer weather...

And some traditional swedish folklore group...

Traditional...but not as much dance friendly...as the samba...

On the website the train order was displayed...

Omg, this appartment looks like a prison...

These guys danced very cool...

They had people guarding the containers...I wonder whats in those...

And some indonesian group...nice...reminded me of my time in Surabaya and Bali...

Even though it was cold...

...and partwise raining...

More worldwide food from some corner of the world...

And home made Mayonaise...I wonder how they transport it from their home...

On the way back, I passed by some places where I use to pass as a kid, on my way to school...

..."Asian taste trade"...i like...

Next stop was an event in Gothenburg downtown...

A bohemic street...

Omg...so many people...

Many DJ´s were playing on the street...

And some thai place were selling water melon shake...

Another street band...

The streets name is "Andra Långgatan"...its a famous street in gothenburg...

More DJing...

And some rave; creating chaos...

And some german singer...

We headed to a classic place called Haket...where they had beer from gothenburg...

This one I havnt seen before...

My friend wanted sun...it was slowly approaching to our seat...I used this metallic brick to measure how fast the sun was approaching...

And finally...for the sake of my friends...

We had some normal lager...

And were discussing bikes...this is ikeas new eletrical bike...

Some friends were heading to some party tonight...

They gave me their number to join up...but i wasnt sure if i would join...

Eberth will not join...

More people joined up to our place...and it got popular to sit here now when the sun was here...

I also found a giant bike...thats cool...

We went for some beer in the store...and some chips...omg...QR code...a way towards a more cashless society...

Many young people were sitting on the street..it reminded me a little bit about germany...

They even promoted the supermarket beer from the street...

I tried this new chip...it wasnt that special...

Eberth prefferd the Dill flavour...

Heaven for can collectors...

I got informed form one of the collector there is some difference between "refund" and "refund"...hmm...

Later on we passed the crowds again...

And headed home...there is also a pride parade and festival in the city this weekend...and Guetta and Tiest plays tonight...many events at the same time...

A visit to linné

I went ti a part of gothenburg called linnéstaden today...

Passing many kinds queuing for Summerburst...

And parts of the road was blocked...

Still many people using the ferris wheel...

Atleast they are using the arena for something...most football games are moved to an arena nearby...

I met up some people and had this ale...it was super good...

Carls last day in town...and Ville is heading to Stockholm tomorrow...

This ale is heading down too...

This was the place we wentto...

Mest some local girls...

And went back to the bar again...

Not that many people here tonight...since there are so many events downtown...

And kids walking around...

...after the concerts...

A visit to delsjön

I paid a quick visit to delsjön tiday...

Looking for a friend...his cellphone didnt work...

But i found his bike...

Omg..there he is...

He had some beer and chips...

And, even if it was freezing cold...went for some swim...

Somewhere down there...probably not more than 18 degrees in the water...

Airport pickups...

I went to gothenburg ariport today...

On the roads there were many people cycling...

I love airports...its always some international feeling...

Many arrivals today (for beeing gothenburg)...

My brother arrived...he lives in switzerland...

He will cycle to paris this summer...and got a bike from some sponsor...this weekend he will go for some training camp...

I think about 1400 swedes will join up....40 from gothenburg area...

Omg, "a whiskey a day keeps the botox away"...i never seen my mom drink whiskey, however she posted this quote...(i never seen here use otox either)...

My brothers luggage was stuck in zurich, or somewhere...they have to send it later...

My parents will leave to eastern europe today...i think they will watch my sister when she will participate in some competition...

Me brother was trying his new bike...

In the evening, I went to another airport in gothenburg area...to drop off my parents...

Next stop, Erik was picked up...

Later I passed by Eberth...

Before I passed by the Summerbursta arena...

Another day with asian connotation

It was my friends Eberths last day at work...

He didnt leave from the main place at work...

Aftersome walk he picked up his bike and wanted to take a pic of the facotry...

He knew a "short cut" that he wanted to take...

...to get to an afterwork place nearby...

It was a nice meal with alot of meat...

He also got alot of snuff from his coworkers (tobacco)...

Later on some french and indian guys showed up...

But I had to concinue to a language gathering...

Språkcaféet in gothenburg have tables for different languages...

I found the english table...

And the japanese...but no chinese... :(

After waiting for some friends...we put the chinese flag on our table...

And many people showed up...one was my old friend oskar...who had an apple pie here...

After some hour...the whole room was filled with people speaking different languages...

Anders also passed by quickly...

Oskar was wearing his Rotaract pin...he was going for a rotaract meeting later on...

I joined him as a "friend of Oskar"...while they were preparing some evrent...(moral support)...

I also inspected Oskars bike...it has many interesting things on it...tomorrow, but on another bike, Oskar will cycle to his parents house in Blekinge...tonigh I will cycle to Alingsås...its always nice to cycle in sweden...

Omg Tiesto posters all around ths city...european DJs make good money nowadays...

More adventures in Gothenburg

Another sunny day passes by...

Its nice with roads that separates bike lane, car lane and a path for pedestrians...

Omg, a ship with Kopparberg flags...

I was heading to Anders, who lives in a recently built neighbourhood...

His wife had home made sweet and sour sauce...supe nice...

She showed me a taiwanese restaurant in Gothenburg...

I need to visit this place...

He also had a tent inside...it reminded me of then I lived in the USA...then I had a similar tent...my sister thinks about the movie "royal tenenbaums"...then seeing my tent...

Omg, I saw a political poster with a QR code..."thats pretty old school"...Anders said...who always knows the lastest stuff...

Omg, the police...they kept driving around and around...

I also found a house that was burned down...

And some tadpoles in a local lake...

After picking a geacache...i didnt have a pen, but put a peice of tape to replace my signature...

I also found some old tent in the forrest..all ready to be camped in...

And nearby they had some 3000 year old building...

I like scenic and hstorical sites...

Later on I tried some herbs at anders place...

He had many interesting things in his garden...

We were also solving some space issue with his dish washer...

And drank some tea from his epic tea pot...

And had some cool...orio brownie...

I found out that his neighbour also was an old chalmers studen who studied in Taiwan...and I met him there a couple of time...

I was told that this guy didnt remember me...so I made a short visit to his house to re-introduce myself...

Next mission was to fix anders old bike...we went to biltema some month ago to buy the right equipment...

Today was the day to finish that project...

We used some old taiwanese boxes as a working table...

And later on had some sweet potatoe balls...super nice...

I was also treated some nice taiwanese dinner...

While checking my pulse on anderscell phone...I had at this moment 54 bpm...

Their vinegar fish was also very nice...

They ended the dinner with blueberry jam - vanilla ice cream...so nice...

Later on we had some more tea...

And some taiwanese drink...I really felt like I was back in taiwan today...

More police and ambulace on my way back...my prejudice about northern gothenburg made me observe anything with sirens... 

A rotaract gatering in Gothenburg

My friend Anders held a presenation in Gothenburg some day ago...

It was about his professionl, he is a jounalist, in the field of innovation...among other things...

My friend Oskar was also there...he came there by bike...

It was a very interesting presenatation...

Many people were there...and now it feels like I know alot more about what Anders is working with...

He also showed some new techical gadget or application...pretty cool...

The people wanted to go for a beer later on...

It was pretty warm, so we sat outside...

I had a beer from gotland...and tried anders ale...it was pretty nice...

Omg, my friend Rickard had a Gant jacket...

And Gant cap...he seems to be a Gant kind of a guy...

A trip to Växjö

I went to Växjö on early saturday morning...

I stayed in the back seat of rht car, after some 4 hour sleep from last night...

Had breakfast at BK...

Not bad...but I think their burger sauce is a little different from what "normal" burger dressing...

And a spider from Alingsås, found itself 240km south this morning...

The mission of the day was to repaint a house and move some things...

So the first stop was this paint shop...

Omg, classic painter tool...

And some chinese box...

A trip to the local "seconhand" red cross store was also made...impressive that they sell non-digital cameras...

Some biking competition was held in the city...and some police was controlling the traffic...

I spent some short time with some local cows...

And enjoyed some local cookie...

And went for  bike hike...

They have many grave stones here from the bronze age...

Or even older...

Omg...an add from the company I used to work at...

I went for some geocache hunt...

Passing this castle...

And saw some wedding...

And the local university campus...

And many chinese people...some fishing in one of the lakes that surrounds Växjö...

Later we had some Thai food...

And marabou milk chocolate with Oreo flavour...

It was ok...I wanted kebab pizza...

...but you cant have everything...nice sunset...I remember when I as a kid spent days, looking for a new "stone hendge"...since there are so many old tombs and stones from thousands of years ago in this are...without result...

We also passed by my uncles new house here...

And tried some vodka form lithuania...

It was pretty nice...smelled like bread...

The label didnt have anything to do with the drink...since it was home made...

We also spent some time moving trash...

And visiting parrots from equador...pretty fun birds...

At the end of the trip...we passed by a swedish convenient store...(read: a gas station)...

I introduced "energy drink" for my father...who usualy drinks coffee...he tried a new "blue edition" with blue berry flavour of red bull...

Later...when back in Alingsås...the whole city was celebrating the local handball team, which won the swedish championship...

Many people...in a small town...

I ended the day with a kebab pizza...

Preparing to fix a broken tractor...

...and to watch the result of the swedish election for EU...

I was about to meet up some friends at 17 at slottskogen...

But they were late...

Some guy littering around...

Alfred who invited me brgouth alot of beer...

The park was vull of people...

A BBQ was also brought...

Didnt know about it, but it seems pretty nice...

And fredrik joined up later too...many of these people studied in singapore...

Alfred treated me with chichen skewers...

They were super good...and this was the secret, I was told...

Next stop...not far away, was a whisky testing session...

Omg, a royalist house..

After some interesting talking...we started with the drinking...

Oskar liked it...

Oskar liked the third one even more...

And the forth one evenmore than the third one...

This one was one of the smokiest kind that we tested...

From left to right...they were pretty good...

Just like when I try wine...we had a paper to help us out, to analyse the taste...

We also had some chokolate...

Omg...seems like many people nowadays have many cellphones...many things to keep on track...

I also tested to lift this...I was told it was some 40 kilos...

The night ended at this place...

After this I went home...it was light before I reached home...summer is appraoching...

Hot in Sweden

It pretty hot in scandinavia right now...

31 degrees in the morning...

almost 40 (in the sun)...later on...

I passed by my uncles place...he´s proud of his flowers...

It was a sunny day until late night...

I also visited some old friends and had some IPA...

And taiwanese wine...that I bought eariler this year...

Not sure if its summer of spring by definition, but it might be cold pretty soon, I heard that it was snowing in Spain (madrid) recently...

Omg, I had this vision long time ago to takesome hedgehogs to my mums summer house (an island without cars)...to protect them from traffic...in recent years I havnt seen any hedgehogs, until last night...in Örgryte, Gothenburg...hopefully I will see more of them...and later move some...they are not that shy when they see humans...

A trip to the east coast and a running session home

My uncle needed some help some day ago...

So I assisted him at home...some computer issues...

He has a nice picture of china in one of the rooms at his place....I like...

He can also see "brudaremossens" TV antenna clearly...(in the dark) from his house...I want to climb that antenna, its 300-400 meters high...

I later on made a short trip to Stockholm...

I had some problems with my GPS, when looking for some cache...

It was a warm and sunny day...

I passed by some historical sites...

And also passed a place where I could vote in the EU election...

So many parties...

I didnt bring any papers except my ID, but that  was ok, they printed the neccessary papers for me...I wonder when these elections will be paperless, for the sake of the environment...

Next stop was my old working place...Münchenbryggeriet...(the Munich brewery)...they just added munich to make it sound more interesting...I was told...it has nothing to do with germany...

Omg. so cheap hostel...with buffet...

Omg, games workshop, my cousin told me they went bankrupt...in sweden they seems to stand strong...

And some really cheap påskmust...I had to buy many...I love påskmust...i prefer apotekarnes..but they didnt offer it here...

Later I went to my sisters house...

She told me that she will finish work in the after noon...too bad I didnt have her phone number...when I finally reached her, it turned out that she finished work much earlier...I spent 5 minutes at her place...

...and then hit the trail back to the west coast...

Baibai for now!

Evn the west coast was pretty warm...

I decided to run back to alingsås...it goes faster than walking, which I have done a dozen of times...

I brought a plastic bag that I held in my hand during the way....so it didnt fell exactly like the ultra marathons I use to do...(here passing triumf glass in Partille)...

But still it was faster than walking...

Half way...(lerum)...in 2 hours...but still its light...

And very warm...

As due to the asfalt I could still run, I feared that I had to walk, later on...when I pass the deep forrest of Norsesund...

Yep...I didnt bring any lights...so I had to be careful later on...

Back to civilization at Norsesund...now the rest is a walk in the park! Even if i took it easy in the end...

Flood and pick.up

Its been some heavy rain recently...

I had to rearrange in the garden...

And finally the tractor works...jippi!

A trip on the bike

I went for a trip on my bike today...

It started to rain just before I planned to take off...

And the fron wheel on my racing bike was flat...

So I took my normal, heavy but robust, bike...and face some dark clouds far away...

Later those clouds wer above me...

I spent 10 minutes in a tunnel waiting the heaviest rain out...

But no...it continued...and some special vehicle came to hinder flooding...

People were hurrying when beeing outside...

And the fire brigade went back and forth, for the thunder, and damage that the water made...I later on decided to go home...it was an interesting experience...

Potatoes in production

Im expecting potatoes pretty soon...

I could see some leaves showing up yesterday...

Some old trick is to cover them, to ensure that the air-potato-space is more than some decimeter...so I did that...

Some random events on the west coast...

I joined my father yesterday to a second hand store in alingsås...

They didnt have much of what I was looking for...as if i even was looking for anything...?

They had cheap DVD movies...(about 50nt each)...

I later helped out with removing some pipe that was deep in the ground...

And hosted Karl, who came from gothenburg...on his racer biker...

I later cycled to gothenburg myself...and also bought some folköl...(beer that you can buy in the supermarket in sweden)...

We also prepared a BBQ...

And enjoyed the sun...

And it was influenced by food from Sarajevo area...

I also added some cheese balls...

I really love the swedish "flinta steak":..

The sun was setting 21.30 something...I washed my shorts and tried to dry them in the sun...

But the sun kept moving...

And we moved with it...

Im not the kind of a guy who enjoys the sun...but in the evening its not that strong...

My shorts were removed to another sunny spot...

Later I headed to Ölrepubliken ("the beer republic")...

And there I met up with my cousin...who gave me his old business card...

I also had a Köstritzer...it was pretty dark...

It was served in a apfelwein glass that I usually get in Frankfurt...

Many of my old friends were there...

Who also are my cousins old neighbours or classmates...

And people were discussing look-a-likes...

Erik was also checking how many resturants he has been to in london...since he has lived there for some 8 years...

Some hours later...it was morning again...

And we were heading to my cousins summer house...

We had to take a ferry to pick up my cousins grandmother first...

It was pretty sunny today...

The house is on an island on the west coast...so another boat ride is neccessary...

Some strange things in the water...

Nice vies, over the moutains...it was like 3 years since I was here last time...

The house wasnt really open yet...

But the stone that I raised was still stnading up...

We also went for a hike...

And inspected the colour of the cliffs...they are rather pink...

And we also found some shoes...

And fishing net...

Its a nice area...except the garbage...

And I found some weird flowers...

We also had some nice lunch...

And cut some trees...

And raised some more stones...

There is a geocache somewhere out there...

Erik is heading to England later on today...

I enjoyed some cookies on my way back to gothenburg...

Summer temperature is about to return to scandinavia...

A first trip was made to pic up a tractor...

But by some reason the it wasnt ready to be picked up yet...

Omg, so many flavours of milk chocolate...at ikea in taipei they use to have some of them...

Later on I met up Eberth in gothenburg...and had a burger...

Or "mega burger"...with some lager...

I was also recommended to buy this wine...it was as good as an amarone I was told...

This guy was amazing...he lived 4 years in sweden and spoke fluent swedish, as good as my immigrant friends who spent a life time here...

Next stop: downtown...

We headed to a special beer bar...

I had this scottish beer...it tasted like a normal IPA...

My friend had this wierd glass...

I will try this kind next tim eI come here...

European election is approaching...

And alot of programmes on TV where they check the options for swedenin EU...

This guy is famous from TV where he used to be a reporter...he even got a song aobut his hairdo...thats interesting...

It was 20 degrees today...but felt more cold than last time it was 20 degrees...

But still it was sunny...

I went for a short run, passing many natural reserves...

And picked nettles...

And some leak...

And Rhubarb...

Making a cake...

And soup...

I also got some M&M´s with peanuts...just likein taiwan...i think my mom was abroad...since M&M´s are rare in sweden...

Sour but sweet cake for dessert...

A visit to gothenburg

I went to gothenburg some day ago...

And went for a meeting at chalmers...

Some company that deals with a platform to enable internships at companies...

It was pretty rainy last night...but I still had short...maybe I will catch a cold later...who knows...

I also paid a visit at my friend Christians temporary appartment...

And had some wine and beer...

Even when going for a walk he brought his glass...like I did in taiwan some times...

I later on went to the marine base to fix some equipment...

And had a kebab pizza with an old friend who also spend some month in Taiwan...

We had kebab...Im also trying to help another guy who joined up with a master thesis proposal soon...

I also passed by the chalmers library...to chill out...

And inspected some Kopparbergs commercials...

Next stop was Järntorget...there they feeded the doves...

My friend Anders just came from a chinese cafe...

We went to a near by asian store...

And he bought me a juice...

...from Taiwan...it was mango juice...mango from taiwan is said to be extra good...

It was really a day with "sunshine in the rain"...

I ended a bike trip later on with watching a race between a ferrari and a lamborghini, near Tollered...

Random events in Alingsås

I spent some time in Alingsås yesterday, arranging transportations...

Fixing a tractor...

And also starting to fix my bike...however, racing bikes require new kind of tools...especially for the tires and rim...we will see how this will work...I might end with a "MacGyver" solution...

A trip to the archipelago

I spent some days crusing on a boat recently...

It all started with a late train...

And a tram trail under construction...thus bus pick-up was needed...

But after some waiting, I reached the ocean...at some parts concluded dirty...

It was also alot of rain...

And the taste of some Marine hour meals..."combat edition"...

I didnt bring any running shoes on this camp...

But Mr Akerlund and Mr Andersson did...

Akerlund was on a camp in Kenya some year ago, and did 10k in 34 minutes after some high altitude training...impressive...(my fastest time is 36-37 minutes something (when i was 20:ish kilos lighter))...

More rain...

And some swim in the ocean...i think its about 10 degrees...

While some people were exersiceing, I was mostly eating...I had alot of peanut butter...that was nice...

And some Sweet and Sour Soy...in whole wheat bread...but it wasnt as good as I thought...

We aso visited some scenic sights...like ths old fortress of Carlsten...

And some other nice places at the swedish west coast...

The sun sets far after 21...and its light even longer...in about a month, the longest day in sweden will apear...

We also passed by some light houses...I also think that this one was for sale...

The house at the south channel to gothenburg city...many ferries are passing by here...so im not sure how nice it will be to have this as a summer house...

We also had the chance to pass by some landmarks of gothenbur...like this orange platform, sometimes used for bunge jumping...

The last days were very sunny...it was a nice weekend, but many people got sun burned...

Going on a trip

A cruise in gothenburg

I went to gothenburg yesterday, trying to meet up some friends...

I did meet up some, before I had to go to gothia towers...

Wher the red cross was having a presentation...

They have 3 different sympols...the one to the very right, is their symbol in israel...

It was cherry blossom times...nice...I felt like in Japan...

I also paid a visit to a place near the avenue in gothenburg, at a mediterranean restaurant, and I hence tried an italian beer...

Oskar was wearing his bracelet from orchid island...which only guys can touch...i miss that island...

Back to the bike festival

I started my Gothenburg visit with some east european food...it was very nice...and reminded me of my Sarajevo visit some years ago...

It tasted BBQed...

Eberth taught me how to eat it...like a wrap...

He also shared useful ways to get the best wine out of the bag-in-box bag...

We later headed to järntorget...to check out some bike stuff...

But we were pretty late, and didnt find anything useful...

I asked how to change my bike, but didnt get any useful tips...

There after a short visit to slottskogen was paid...

And just like in the old days...we had some folköl...(2.8% beer)...

I later discovered that I need to change my front wheel on my bike...thats the next project...

Bike festival in town

Its a bike festival in town...

I adjusted some things on my bike, and aimed to check the festival out...

I cycled around järntorget and passed the festival area...but went to a friend instead...tomorrow I plan to attebd a flea market here...

I went to eberth and had my rhubarb juice...

Omg, on my way home...I found a kopparberbs box...interesting...

The sun sets more and more north...typical scandinavian image...bright sky, and super dark ground, (due to the light angle up in the north)

Some random events in Alingsås

My friend Anders paid a visit to Alingsås today...

A sunny, but not super warm day...

Anders family joined up...it was fun...

He delivered some pens...always useful, when you look for geocache...Anders also has soms cache at the west coast of sweden...

We later headed into the city...

We found a resturant with "happy customers"...sounds interesting...

It was a chinese restaurant I never been to before...

With a graeat buffét...

We also passed by a local ice cream store...

That had a huge diversity of flavours...almost like coldstone...

We had some italien ice cream with panncakes...

Later we went to pick rhubarb...pretty nice...I made some cordial...

And we will hopefully get more later on...

There is a bike festival in town tomorrow...

I can see that the sun sets more and more north for everyday, until midsummer...as long as its "shorts weather" im satisfied...

1st of may...

I havnt been in Sweden on the 1st of may for many years...

My parents often join some family members out in the forrest for some picnic...

And a walk...

The ants are working inth espring sun...

Later on some people were inspecting the timber...

I was tasting some tree sap...

I heard that ppl in the stone age used to use it as chewing gum...

Swedish Valborg

Today it the kings birthday...and a day called "Valborg" in sweden...

I started the day by finding a giant pot hole...

And found some wierdsign in Alingsås city...

Later on I tried an "all u can eat"...it was ok...

They had italian food...and beer...

I first expecte indian food, since the restaurants name was "deli..." something...

But it was food from other places...

They also had an AC-system...

I also passed by systembolaget...

And tried some non.alcoholic beer...

And the next stop was a football field where my friends played "wine football":..

2, teams, and the ones that scores gets to drink wine...

People got more and more happy...

Some bucket with white wine...

It was a little colder today than last week...

But the sun was still shining...

I ended the day by doing an experiement with yeast...but it didnt have the effect I expected...
