Preparing a new hike...

Im preparing a new hike today...
Just as when I went to Xueshan (second highest mountain in taiwan) I brought m&m´s...i will try to make a 1 day hike, but im prepared for a 2 day hike...monkeys and mosquitos are waiting in the mountain near hsinchu where im going...
A friend was about to join, but no one provided his data, so that we could apply for a permit...to bad...

Delegates from Sweden visited Taiwan

member of Committee on Industry and Trade with some swedish governmental comitee members visited taiwan to discuss trade...and many european firms feels discriminated since Taiwan loves USA so much...
So they negotiated with the taiwanese government for some week...
And also visited the swedish trade council...
It was interesting, also representatives from swedish companies attended...
It was very interesting...They will fly to many places in taiwan this week to get a good picture of the need ot the country...and also to encourrage taiwan to support more free trade...

Burger and honey beer...

I made some burgers today for lunch...
I also tried a beer with honey flavour...but it was not that good...I hoped it will tsate like my favorite beer...but this honey flavour was stronger...and kind of destroyed the beer taste...

A new all you can eat sushi restaurant in taipei

I visited a new all you can eat resturant in taipei today...

It was near S.Y.S. memorial hall...

They had red and white wine...but all ready in glasses making it taste like vinegar...
Many kinds of fish...but a guy had to chop it up for u...however there were never any longer queue...
I also had fruit, and other kind of seafood...
And beer...it was 630nt...kind of much for a monday...
Later on i went by scooter in taipei...concluding that many traffic lights ppl have to wait for several minutes...leaving their scooters on...i wonder how many taipei who get asthma, or die in lung cancer...

Free trials at ikea

Ikea always let you try the food...in the store...
For ppl who never tried chocolate, biscuits etc...just like costco...it is nice...

Sunday nights food session...

A friend came by last night. we went to costco, however is costco card was out of date...so instead of buying juice...

I bought a hotdog and drank alot of coke...(costco coke taste wierd compare to bottled coke here in taiwan)...

In the nights the police are checking cars, always at the same places...to that the bad guys knows where to not drive...and so that the guys witht he assault rifles dont need to act...

I wonder when swedish police will dress up with rifles when checking cars...

Later I went to ximen, for a nice hotpot "all you can eat"...only 350nt...

They had popcorn, I had to eat some, since they are so nutritious...

The icecream was pretty hard...not easy for people to carve out pieces...

Else I went all in on fish, cornsticks...

And prawns as usual...
They had coke in bottle...it was nice...high on caffein, I faced the sunday going to an end...

HIghest population density in the world...

I passed by an info sign when I went out running some day ago...
It says "The population density of Zhonghe and Yonghe (to areas south of taipei city)...is the highest in the..world"...omg so many ppl...
Its lantern festival...they also had some show along the river side last night...

A small trip to the city...

I went to taipei downtown...

To eat pizza at shida...

The waitress was smiling...I asked if she was taiwanese or not...since many waitresses here dont smile...she said she wasnt...just as I thought she was from vietnam...

I had a ful set of things...

And a hawaii pizza...that was pretty good...

I continued to nanjing eat road. where many people gathered...

And I helped a friend to buy things at ikea...
Wow...swing cap bottles...so nice...
Now I will go for a run...my new "old" lifestyle

Taipei hangout...on a saturday night...

I went to many places yesterday night...

Transporting by scooter...ina dense city...

I fear i might get lung cancer, sharing city with millions of otherscooter drivers...

The first destination was a burger bar near taipei 101...

I see that my friend Joel has been here selling swwedish stuff...

Both kopparbergs and Rekorderlig Cider...

They did not have any big burgers at this place...

I had a rekorderilig (it was as expensive as the burger)...

And a pineapple burger...

There was a sign on Taipei 101 say ing something about the lantern festival that is right now...

The next stop was El Cielo near S.Y.S memorial hall...

I found many nice all you can eat resturants near by there...

At El Cielo I met Robin who has a farewell party...

I met many swedes that I havnt met for a long itme there...

I use to hang out with Kristoffer...though...

I had a chocolate drink...it was ok...

We also got some snax if we bought drinks for more than 1000nt...

After this place a visit to Barhi was made again...

Its the Yilan beer bar in Beitou that also has pilsner...

Vincent the owner is a very nice guy...

They didnt have the pilsner yesterday, so I had a liter of wheat beer...

And if you "check in" on facebook at this place u get free french fries...

I also had a hawaii pizza, but it more looked like a pie...

I also passed by shilin night market where they had many lanterns...

And finally I dropped by Ximen, where I took an "all you can drink" offer for 500nt...but the drinks were not that good...

The bars here are very tight...and each of them plays their own music...on this pic  speakers are shown (one to the left and one to the right) playing different music...
I planned to "do the list"...but the drinks were not that good...so I skipped some drinks...
Later on I went to carrefour to buy some things to do milkshake...february 2013 continues...

A quick visit to Hsinchu

I went to hsinchu last night...
For a birthday party, and I found a nice store to buy beer,,,

They even had Ble d´or beer...(but not hte honey flavour)...

The main reason why I went here was because I was told that they had a honey flavour beer...

I bought 7-8 different kind of beer, they covered each bottle with plastic material...

I also went to pizza hut, my friend said that they told us that the pizzaz were 10 inch each...I doubht that...

I had hawaii and some italian orange drink...

Later at my frineds place...I started with this beer...(all beer i boght were weissbeer or similar)...

And continued with this one...

And then this one (a bottle with swing cap)...

There were some caribeans at the palrty who told me to make a certain drink based on rum...

I also tried this beer...pretty light...

Eric was there...so funny...he came from taipei...
I als tried Amis (the aboriginal tribe) wine...

It was pretty sweet...
It was Julien, my old roommates birthday...

Many locals were there...
Niceview from his appartment...
Later I went to G star ( a quick visit)... in taipei...
Many people were there...
Saying hi to an old friend...friday went to an end...

Early saturday morning meeting...

I had a meeting at 9.30 this saturday...
It was a nice day...starting off by stepping in someones vomit in the elevator...(or what it was)...
Then I found road 9, passing by the presidents palace in central taipei...thats cool, the road I went on almost from kenting last week...(u always learn something new)...

A visit to Hsinchu

I went to hsinchu yesterday...

Had a meeting with some old friends...

At a restaurant in Hsinchu downtown...

Its one of these "try to imitate fancy italian/french dishes and service" resturant that is far to expensive...

I had pasta, my friends ordered some more brunch style food..

I had an egg in my food...

We later on went to the beerworks (beer place), that I never been to (there are 4-5 pf them in hsinchu, that sells hsinchu made beer)...

It was a little bit similar to the other beerwork that i have been to...

Kai was there...

I had some burgers...since i started to run regurlary recently, i feel that I need to eat alot...just like in the old days...

We went up at 10, to get to some wild hotsprings...(thats what they are calles here, hotsprings that u dont need to pay for)...
Anders drove the car...

We had GPS, but did barely need it...

Wow..."Dabajianshan"...the place i wanna go to almost "the most" right now in taiwan...

A far up 7-11...a taiwanese way to recognize civilization...

Aboriginal pattern...so nice...

And a nice church, maybe not "top 10" but atleast "top 100" in taiwan...

There are many nice houses far up in the taiwanese moutains roads...

We also used a map that I downloaded, to get the directions of this "wild hotspring"...

It was a small road...

And a bad road, with many warning signs...

We were told to "Follow the main road" to get ther...but many times the road split into two...and both looked like "tha main road":..
But after a while the descriptin matched with reality...and we chosed to walk the last bit...

Steep down towards a river...

very steep...

And the road was not suitable for "normal city cars"...

Some big stones were found near the river bank...

A guy told us how to find the hotspring...

Wow...a country road car...perfect to find nice hotsprings in taiwan...

Wow...over there we found some people...

Someone had put up some tents...

And used concrete to make some pools...

Anders found a cave...

I found a bigger one...

Bubbles in the water...

It was around 35-28 degrees in the first pool...

There was some pipes that enabled fresh river water to enter...

3or 4 pools, where 1 was outside the "tent" area...

Ander also took a swim in the cold river...

He also took some cold water to make the hotspring more fresh...

Many bubbles...

Bojun went for a walk down hill...

This was really in a djungle...

Most hotsprings are near the river bank in this area...

Far up there, and further some 20-40km, is dabajian shan...

Anders took many pictures....

Then, after some hour, we went back to the car...

Wow...some waterfall at the other side of the valley...

And some broad river...in Hsinchu that looked like a river in yilan...

We later on went to Neiwan...

I wanted to eat wild boar meat...

YEp, wild boar "or mountain pig" as its called in chinese...

They are not as big as in sweden...

I also found amilk store, from Ruishui, which i visited last week at the east coast...

They had a museum for "interesting things"...

I bought an icecream asn some liter of milk...

And went to eat some noodles...

As usual I was watcomng the maps on the wall for a long while...looking for interesting places...

Wow, nice mountains that I want to climb...

And a huge toad...

I thought this was a muffin, but it turned out to be some slime thing...

They had alot of fire crackers left since chinese new year...

Later on i took the bus to Taipei. and found a guy with both Fjällräven bag and ikea bag...thats impressive...

I went to a resturant in ximen later on...to another "italian/french" wannabee resturant...
And had pasta...

And milk tea...
Later on I passed by the red house district for a kiwi tea...but it was more like an acid drink...february 2013 continues...

Applying for a mountain permit...

I want to climb a mountain called Dabajianshan, in taiwan...
So complicated and tourble some to apply for a permit...
Many countries that wants tourists, makes it easy for them to come there...(like on the border visa etc)...
Taiwan says the encourrage ppl to climb mountains...but the logic of having "at the border" applications does not exist...so rigid...I need to enter a homepage some weeks in advance, and check where to go...

Tuesday evening...

I tried a new burger bar today...

The staff were a little rude in the beginning...

I had their 3 patty burger...

They had hockey on the TV...

And nice candies at the desk...

Alot of chocolate...

LAter a visit to coldstone was made...

I bought peanut butter ice cream...as usual...

And after that I went to Brass monkey...

This night there was some salsa activity...

I had a San miguel...

More and more people joined the salsa activity...

They also have a rugby team...

Taiwan attracts latino countries...no wonder there were many people dancing...(after a while)...
And the white guys sat and drank beer...watching Madrid- Mancheser United...

Fumes in taiwan

MIllions of scooters in a very dense place...
And many scooters have no filter of any kind...of one take a picture of a polluting scooter and send to some agency, with time and place...you can earn money...

A visit to the immigration office...

I made a quick visit to the immigration office today...
Its always entertaining...

Drinking my expensive Taiwanese coffee

Im drinking my taiwanese coffee nowadays...it taste almost the same as ikea coffee...(i think both are arabica beans)...
The reason why it was expensive was becasue when a typhoon comes, it destoys many coffee bushes...(I was told)...
I also found a homepage with all the wild hotsprings in taiwan (atleast 40-50 of them)...I really love wild hotsprings, since they are natural and free...but most often you have to walk for a while...I guess the reason they remained wild, is becasue they are to far away for any person to make a "spa" out of it...

A visit to the trade council...

I paid a short visit to the trade council today...

It was a meeting regarding windpower plants...which was one of my expert areas 5-10 years ago...

I was served coffee bought in sweden...so exclusive...

We saw some new designs of windpower towers...

Today I saw many activites on the streets of taipei...people dancing and making noise...

Omg...they stopped selling Aladdin at ikea...I wonder what they did with all those boxes...

They are using alot of fire crackers today...on the streets...never ending...
I also made it to the post office...had some letters to send...

A visit to Cosbys Taipei

I went to see a friend at Ximen last night...

We met at Cosbys Taipei...my favorite burger bar...

Maybe first time I had a single burger...

Millers is a nice beer...

We also headed to the Bear Bar...

Later on I passed by Carrefour, and I saw Ruishui milk, the farm i visited on the east coast...not sure if the milk is from that farm though...
Omg, Kiwis are 89nt for 10 peices...thats more expensive than in Taidong...strange since Taidong is much further away...and more isolated...(i assume the kiwis are not local)...

Swedish summer weather in taipei

It is swedish summer weather in taipei...
I went for some hours run along the river side, and many people were out walking and biking...
A perfect day for BarBQ...to bad ppl are all split up these days...hard to gather...

Back in tpe

I just came back to Taipei...

In taidong

The following night was spent at Johnnys house...in taidong...

He had Ikea things in the room...

And he insisted of driving the car...omg...

And we went downtown...to some stores...

And played at an arcade...

The games ended pretty soon...

This fighting game was fun...

Wow...a famous place...it must b good...(tai logic)...

A tree house in central taidong...

And some art...

This house is super central...I was told that the restaurant is not that good...

"An introduction to logic..."

Nice interior design in the house...

This is interesting, the closest Mcdonalds is to the right, but they promote a more remote one...for some reason...

We also headed a bit up on the hill that we skipped last time...

Just some temples...

And old people playing karaoke...

We continued to eat lunch...and parked tha car near this nice house...

Sams burger, the resturant thats open in theory 11-22 but in reality at lunch, and after 17-18...

Some blackboard paintings...

"sams f**kin hungry now"...seems bug...i will have that...

It was pretty big..

Later on we went to johnnys again and ate some local fruit...(the one i bought last time)...

Its a very local fruit...

There after we went to a hot spring...

We could cook our eggs there...

It was not that big...and not that structures in the sense of temperatures...(200nt)...

Rain was approaching, so the trip continued north...

A police controling the traffic lights...

Omg, a bike kit at 7-11 so professional...

Road 9 seems nicer thatn road 11 on the east coast...both has plenty of 7-11 stores...

I saw some fireworks later on that night...

Ath this elementary school, where I slept...

They had english translations of almost everything there...

In guanxi they hace a famous bike way...

Omg, road 20, I was very close to climg jiaming moutain, to go to jiaming lake...but ppl said it might be hard, due to the weather...(i planned to do it over the day, since I know some people who has done that)...

It goes cross the island, to road 3 where I went yesterday...

I went a while on road 20...and passed a Bunun museum...to bad that it was closed...

I wanna learn more about aboriginal culture...

This is as far as it gets...almost...

There were many statues like this, here at the road 9 valley...

A sign saying that the raod is closed after some 500k or something...

These "hand in hand" paintingis are very common in taiwan, it seems to be a symbol of aboriginals (as well as the diamond shaped pattern)...

Here goes road 20, I hope to be back soon, and climb some moutains here...

Most roads in the mountains follows a river...

Some aboriginal photos...

More paintings...

Bad weather...

I had breakfast in Yuli...some toast...

And "brownish" milk...

It was said to be 100%...

Omg...seeing this at home, one would think it was something bad...here in asia this (most often inverted) symbol has a positive meaning...

A new railroad is beeing built...

Omg..."warning for birds" thats rare...I never seen that at home...

I also passed by a coffee plantage...

A japanese guy cane here some centory ago and made these plantages...

They had many products...

And equipment...

ALot of coffee trees...

Like this one...

With the red coffee bean...we were told that we could eat them (the visitors were guided)...

Hmm...I brought some beans home...to plant...

Some beans were brown and dry...

They also had facilities to camp...

We also got some tea and coffe wjhile there...

They had many products...

The coffee I liked...

I bought this...it was pretty expensive 1000nt for a small package...they had one for 600nt, with another bean....but i prefer arabica...and i like to support locally produced items...

Omg, the tropical of cancer...

They had many sites to visit on the east reef valley...

And the road I wanted to go on...

Next stop was Ruishui milk farm...

SImilar to the one I visited when I did my ironman in taidong 2 years ago...but this was bigger, since they sell their milk at 7-11...

I bought some pudding, ice cream and milk...

Local produced they said...but they only had 300 cows here, I doubt that this is their only faciility, since they are selling their milk at the 6000 7-11 that exists in taiwan...

They also had ostrich...

And a few cows for visitors to feed...

Many kids were here...

"land of milk, tea and ot springs"...

And places to camp...

Nice houst...looks empty but the roof is the same as home...

Aboriginal pattern...

I was taking road 193 to an aboriginal museum that was open (i was told)...

This place...

Cool pattern...

It was the Amis tribe...

I want to know more about the smaller tribes...Amis and Paiwan seems so big...

They had colourful clothes...

And nice necklace...

And totam pole...

The eat rift vally, super nice...

Sttep hills...

A meeting point for aboriginals...

Next stop was a real lake near hualien...

I seen pictures of this lake on internet but I did know it was here...

I was told it was famous, but hard to get to , sincethe east coast is kind of isolated...

Liyu lake...

Many people were renting out swan boats...

They also had some wetlands...

Some people were also fishing...

And some hotels...ofcourse...

In hualien I went to an "allyoucaneat" buffet at pizza hut...

It was lantern festival as well so there were alot of lights...

In Jiaoxi, I went to my favorite yilan beer bar...they also have a free piblic hotspring...

Yilan beer...

And the dance floor...where old people dance...

once barley and one wheat beer...
More people at the hotspring...they sit and dip ther feet into the water...
Later road 9 was taken towards taipei...it was nice, a view of yilan by night...

in pingdong

I went for a hike around taiwan this week (the light version)...
Starting from Taipei and heading south on the moutian roads...

"tai 3 xian"...(road number 3...

nice fontain at a gas station...

Continuing on road 7 towards yilans mountain...

Strange roundabout with traffic lights...isnt roundabouts a substitute for traffic lights...?

Nice view...I see a lake down there some where...must be tha dame near fuxing...

Mountains showing up...civered with clouds...

Pink bridges...it feels like the alps once in a while...

Buddhist flags...

Another dame...

A dry river...

Road 7 (main road)...many of these roads brake pretty easy...

There are houses far way there...its always so impressive that people lives here in the middle of nowhere...

Smoke on the moutain...maybe a hidden hotspring...

Aboriginal pattern...I find these "diamond shapes" all over the country...

"yilan", I went here with my classmates last year heading to Xueshan (second higest mountain in taiwan)...

The atmosphere here is almost like in sweden...

But the roads are more narrow (and taiwanese moutinas are one of the steepest in the world I was told)...

Cherry blossom (the red flowers)...

Raining (near yilan, as usual)...

An old train...

Locomotive...I like...

Near Tuchang...

Its a pity...its 25 km to the trail start...sun is setting and then waits another 10km to the biggest mountina lae in taiwan...(no camping allowed)...I have to do it another time...

The trip continues south up hills...

A place where the bus to Lishan us to stop (that has no conveinient stores)...but some restaurant and local stores with paintings on how houses use to look like in taiwan...

There are many things to do in yilan county...

I got beef noodles...

Its chinese new year, so many people (rather: all of them)...have vacation, and are taking trips...many buses heading to the mountains...

I was recommended to go to Lishan, in the mountains by the head of chamber of commerce...its like scandinavian atmosphere...I guess its on of the higest villages in taiwan...

Why do they have a weight in the store entrance?

I was looking for an elemantary school, since there u can camp without problem...(people say)...

I there after went to get some food in lishan...many people ate at the "Only place open"...

Some meat screwers...

They also had ginger tea at some other place...

It was maybe 10-15 degrees outside...

The elemantary school was pretty new....even the toilet was barely used...

Next day the weather was nice...

I love pretty chirches in mountain areas...taiwan has some, since the aboriginals are mostly christians...

And many europeans went here (also some ppl from korea etc) to spread the bible message...

Wow...maybe its nanhu mountain...

And there is Hehuanshan, some where...a moutain i climed some years ago...

Nice stairs...I wanna have a house here...in these pitoresque lishan blocks...

On of the only stores open in the morning to sell breakfast...

The guy here, seems to own most big places in lishan, he has a wool sweater...

The higest gamler store in taiwan can be found here...

Omg, a new character...(the one to the left)...means palm tree I was told...

Another nice church...

Xueshan ridge...

Steep moutains roads...leading west...

The weather is often sunny in the morning up here...

I want to see Dabajian shan, a cool mountain in Hsinchu county...but I cannot see it...

Here is hehuanshan, its where im currently am heading...

There are many police stations up here...

Wow, nice cabin, I wonder how much it costs to buy that one...

Road 8 meets up road 7 after a while...

Passing a tunnel on the highest road in taiwan...

The "dark moutain"...

Road 14 meets up road 8...leading east to hualien or west to nantou...(on of the few moutain roads that are crossing taiwan (think there are 2-3 thats not broken)...

I camped at this parkin lot 2 years ago with NCTUs moutains climbing club...

Now Im heading to hehuan shan...

No trees grows there...im at 3000m above sea level now...

Many tai ppl are coming here during vacation to see the view...since cars can drive up here...

The traffic is chaotic...

The top of hehuanshan (centra peak)...3416meters high...

There is my favorite moutain...the pyramid moutains...no snow on any top...there are truly many rumors here...I was told there was alot of snow up here this week...

And xueshan...

And Hsinchu county...

I went on this road up...many houses and hotels up here...

The road continues west...

Nice moutain house...

The houses here looks like home...no "container architecture" like in the taiwanese cities...

Wow...Absolute vodka was found...in the the closest 7-11...

Many people came here...thay had a lady with a mic at the entrance...

And the micro waves at a separate corner of the store...

People say this area is famous due to a sheep farm...(think i visited that 2 yearsa ago when I swam cross sunmoonlake)...

The highest 7-11 in taiwan...

9 people working here...is that efficient...?

7 behind the desk, the lady with the mic and the guy at the oven...

More nice houses (pic was taken while making speed)...

Another nice house...

Cherry blossom...

I wonder why taipei dont have these nice houses (atleast I cant find them)...

the "sheep farm"...very toursitic...

Many cars here...

And maybe 10-20km of queue uphill...

the queues never ended...25million people with vacation at the same time...

But the air was fresh...

I been here 2-3 times before...its nice...

More non taiwanese roofs...

A nice yellow house...

A nice church top...

More houses...

Another church...

And more churches...

More traffic...

Hours of queuing up hill...

A seediq aboriginal resturant...sweet...

And Bitan, my favrite lake...

seen it many times before...but its hard to get to...

I was told its a dame thats not "real"...

Well...I wanna see it closer...

After 10-20 mintues(to the other side of the dame)...I reached the bank...

Some boats, and float bridges...no people...

They could have nice swimming competitions here...

The churches and houses I just passed are up on the hill...

More cherry blossom...

Its fun, these yellom reflectors on thecrash barriers...makes vecicles sound funny...the sound reflects differently...

Now heading to next lake...to road 151...how do I find that one?...

Funny jacket...with the "7-11" logo on it...I will look like a staff if i wear that in a store...

Have to pass sunmoonlake to get to road 151...andmore traffic...

Taiwanese hollidays...

Some people now wearing helmet (its like beeing on the east coast or south of taiwan, where helmet is more a recommendation or decoration)...
And a "fjällräven" bag...they are getting more popular here...
Road 21 to sun moon lake...road 21 crosses the island from middle to south...

The cars were still...
Wow, sun moon lake...

A police man trying to arrange the traffic...
FUnny bulding, is that typhoon proof?so high and thin...

Very touristic here as well...

Nice bike path going around the lake...

A ridge that separates the lake from the farms to the right (the lake was created when japanese people occupied taiwan)...

A marathon will go around the lake soon...

"666"

It was less traffic on the south part of the lake...

Taking road 131 up to some mountain village...

More traffic...

Changing to raod 151...towards an old "forrest park":..

never ending... queues...

Here...some 1000-2000 meter up some one had an arcade...

15 degrees...its warm for being home...

An "all you can eat" meal was waiting, only 300nt (70SEK)

        The food was soso.

People drive car up here...and take a walk between the houses to  say they been on a hike...

I was heading to a lake that was created by an earthquake...but I prefered to hike near the lights...

And no vehicles allowed near the path, so I had to walk 2km, or wait for a but that leaves in 1 hour...

Locals tolb me it would take 6-7hours to walk there...(to the lake)...

They had ceom nice flowers in the area...

The path was pretty small and steep...

I had to climb ladders some times...

It was very bad infromation, only in chinese some times...and some ribbons of different colours leading to different places...

Nice shape of the mountain...

Hmm, where to go...I got the characted of the destimation...both ways are leading to the destination...

I pickes a steep path, hoping it will be faster...I had to be back at the hotel area before it gets dark...

Nice view...

Omg, a rest place on the top of a mountain...

But chinese information, and to ways to go...hmm, I walked back and forth, trygin to figure out whree to go...

I picked the road to the left...it seemed like more people walked this way...

I also meet some random people who said it was this way (i hope they are right)...

Yep, more ribbons...

Nice forrest, I felt like home for a while...

Omg, the path just ended...where to go...

its a small path heading into the high grass...but barely anyone walked there before...

Hmm...after 10 minutes looking, I found a had written sigh, saying "walk left"...

Omg, a house in the middle of nowhere, who carried these stones here (maybe 2-3 hours walk for normal people, in steep terrain)...

And later on I found another house...

It turned out that the first house was a temple...and this was a hosue for workers, in the area, long time ago...

It seemd pretty nice...

The path became better after a while, I turned out that when the "other" road met up wuth my "fast and steep" path, it was easier to walk...

And some roads were closed...

Not sure where to go...I take right...

Steep hills...

More signs...hmm copnfusing...I sked everyone I met (3-4 people If i was on the right path)...I hope they were right...

Wow...after 3 hours i came to the lake...good, then I have plenty of time, to contines to destination number 2...a cave...

Many people camped at the lake...

Some foreingers....I asked how to walk to the cave...and they gave me directions...

This was a normal forrest 10 years ago...(something)...then suddenly the earthquake created this lake...

I had to walk alon the lake to get to the cave...

And I met more foreinger who were heading to the same direction, they camped at the lake for some days...(all american english teachers, as it seemed)...

The lake was big...

And here the lake goes down, a small creek...I would have been disapointed if it was a stone blocking the creek, but it seem like the earth was pushed up...

A flying lantern had landed on a tree in the middle of nowhere...thats cool...

The path was leading to a dry river...

I had to walk on stones for a while...

I was on the right way (i recognized these character)...

The cave...not as impresive as the lake...

A sign that it was the thousan people cave...

Some people campes here before...

And potts gathered dripping water...

It would be nice to stay here...or continue on the path (That accutlaly leads to alishan)...

11.09, it took me about 4 hours from the hotel area to the cave...

I headed back, n time to waste...seeing nice shaped cliffs on my way back...

After another hours I came back to the lake...

A guy called Tyler said I could use his water filter to refill my water bottle...

Many old taiwanese people were at the camp...

And an american who ben to taiwan only for 2 weeks...and will study chinese for a year while teaching english...

Johan, high on caffein, convinced he can do any hike in taiwan in less than 6-8 hours...

Omg, a Mcdonalds "M" on the ground...can u find it?

I carried my friend luggage back to the hotel area...and we picked an easier way (but longer) back...

Strange sign...the information was facing the forrest, not tha path...

It was showing the distance (finally), so far, no distance was displayed...

But stupid enough itwas not readable for people walking on the path...

Starnge...

The new path was steep in the begining...

But later it was very easy...(2050 meter high)...

Some old map...

This I could run...no wonder so many kids come here...

More chinese maps...

And a hut, for slow hikers...(or who just enjoy spending their time in the rural area)...

And some old, shit house...

I met a guy from Changhua with orange beard...wierd...

A nice water fall...but it was dry...

Wow...here tha cars can drive up....for lazy walkers...

pretty fresh...mabye the people i passed by on my woy down took the car...

It started to rain when I arrived to the hotel area (a little)...

cloudy skies...

And back to the forrest park...

Dinner was eaten at a "famous" place near nantou...chicken place...

It was ok...

They had the soap in a web, that was clever...the it wont be dropped....

Later a visit to exther was made...she is nice...
She has many white vehicles at her house...

We ate breakfast at a shark place...

I had a strawberry pancake thing...

With coffee...

Heading south from nantou on road 3...passing many hills...and binlang trees...

They never seemed to end...

Road 3, the same I started on, in taipei...

Nice view...

A car was delvering binlang or something...

MIssing kids were announced at a local gas station...

Omg...up here, its rare with gas stations...

Another moutain lake...

Raod 20...its broken...else I would take it, it leads to the east coast...and a place I wanna hike...instead I was heading south, almost to the very south of taiwan to be able to cross the island...

This lady in pingdong was amazing, she acctually knew were to find "allyoucan eat" resturants...and she also knew how to go there...

Omg,,,199nt for all you can eat meat, (50SEK)...

I got it for 170NT...even cheaper at a branch resturant of the first place i found, since it was full, southern taiwan is always so cheap...

There are many aboriginals here in the south (as well as well as at the east coast)...

It was a BBQ meat all you can eat...

My swedish friend told me he planned to open a laundry store in taipei some day, but didnt...now one can find there laundry stores anywhere...

Omg, a character so hard that they had to type the "bopomofo" to the right of it...i like hard characters...

Here in the very south (road 3 and 1 and 17) one can find gas stations every 400-500meters...i wonder why...

A cool guy at a gas staion...

Later, in taidong I was to meet up a friend at Unle Petes pizza...a foreinger who has a pizzeria at road 11...

Heading South.visited Montains and lakes and went to Nantou last night. might go to taidong tomorrow.

Hike

Heading out for a hike...wanna walk far...expecting nice green hills and fresh wind in the air....
JS in front of nice green hills and fresh wind in the air...
...brb...

Many people at Ximen today...

Today there were many people at Ximen,,,
It is kind of expensive here...Ihad a straberry yoghurt...looked more like a sliced ice...
And tuna sandwish...they were ok, but barely anything to eat...

Second batch of beer...

I made a second batch of beer today...
I think I added to much yeast...we will c...

German movie with swedish actor...

I just saw Peter Haber in a german movie, however it was dubbed movie...
His voice was almost like it is in real life...

A letter form home...

I got a letter from home...
Except a used HTC (from where I can access taiwanese HTC wifi), i also got a Flyingblue and Star alliance card...time to get serious...
/J

Chinese new year= European christmas...

Except that chinese people exchange money, give money, count money, share money, instead of other gifts...
CNY is pretty close to christmas, people gather Nd eat, andthe country becomes plretty empty of people on the streets...

Many people gamle...I didnt see anyone on the street (more or less) except in these betting stores...

Going for a run in the evening...it was an intereting sight...

Closed stores...

Even "24-hour open Carrefour" was closed...

One exception was Ximen...where many tourists gathered...

And ofcourse the betting stores...

At midnight I went to Dalida...they ahd some foreingers working there...then its easier to have open on CNY...

They resotred theor bar...

I waited for 30 minutes for a hot chocolate...I think they forgot my order...

Omg, some maffia cars parked in the moddle of the street at ximen...not OK from a traffic point of view...

And the police station just 40 meters from the crime scene...it must be maffia, the police chose to do nothing...welcome to this part of the world...

Fireworks in the sky all night long...

Preparing for hike...

My first chinese new year in taiwan...
Partly feels like a loss...I could have been anywhere right now...
On the other hand, I have time to explore the taiwan island...
25 million taiwanese have vacation at the same time?!?! might be crowded on this dense area...
But sleeping bags are less than 400nt (100sek)...
And tents for 500nt (125sek)...and no rules about that ppl cannot hike wherever...(many people use to put up tents in school areas)...they have toilets to use and everything...meaning: If u just know how to transport yourself, u can travel pretty cheap in taiwan...
The only problem is the permits that are needed for every hike...it makes things to complicated...
"WTF...." intersting peices...
"Warch your step"...I better do...

Last day in Taidong for this time...

Last day in taidong for this time...

Time to go for a ride with a bike...

Since i was the same weight as my two friends togetter, they had the bike with the best carrier...

We were suppose to cycle along this route. taking us around taidong along the old railway...

It was all restored as a bike path...a very nice one...

With blockades that only small bikes and wheelchairs could pass by...

Sometimes it was asfalt and wooden boards...

Malan station...now there are nice houses here...I wanna buy a house here...seems like the swedish "österlen"...

With art everywhere...and some aboriginal stories...

Many old fary tales...

There is the taidong theater...

And some more art...

And flower garden...

Now we are more in the city...

So we stopped at thie breakfast place...

Nice cats...

Jolly roger...I wish I had a shirt like that...

I had a "burger"...ha, u under know what u get...

And green milk tea...

Breakfast over...lets continue...

Many sites on the way (all in chinese)...

Some alligator reminding me of a cafe in ximen/taipei...

This hill in the middle is in taidong city...I have to climb that next time i come here...

Here is the hill IRL...

The old taidong station...

The japanese built some bunkers here...I went here last time i visited taidong as well...

Bojun was carrying his brother...

But it was ok...even after some hours cycling...

This is as central as u can come in taidong i think...

An old locomotive...to bad they dont have that still... (like in alishan)...

"Taiwanse most beautiful bike path"...omg, thecompetition is high, in hsinchu they say the same about "the most beautifl coastline" which also had a bike path...

When i arrived to Taidong yesterday they didnt say "taidong station", it was only in text, they said something else, no wonder, since that is the "new station"...and this is the old one...

Omg, after cycling around taidong university again, I found a rotary place...

Omg, "tai4", three "da1" chachters in one, so rare they must use bopomofo to tell people...I same another time in taipei main station they also chosed a rare character..."𡘙"...
Source: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%89%E5%8F%A0%E5%AD%97

On road 11, where I cycled last year, I found a pizzeria, i think a foreingers owns this one...but it was closed...

It was really sunny today...

Only bikes...omg, thats rare in taiwan...I like it...
"hualien" East coast" "East rift valley"...all very special places...

A big temple at the mountains, i will visit that next time...

I realized that this is the road where I ran my marathon last time, in taidong...9 times back and forth...

Seeing the mountains in the horizon...

This place looks like Nantou, an other city in taiwan...I also had feeling of Yilan, at some other places...

It was narrow when cars passed by...

And risky, since we might end up in the rice field...

Back at Bojuns house I saw many post office sculptures..both his parents works there...

We check on internet to see if there were any burgerbars open (or any burgerbars at all in taidong)...

Sams burger said it was open, what a disapointment, they dint open until 17, the 11-22 was only decoration :S

We went by a pizzeria...that seemed to be closed as well...

And Gary Bee was also closed...

Hmm...being hungry in taidong is not good if u want burgers, after 2pm...

We went to a taiwanese restaurant...
I and lamb and some Sen miguel...

They promoted Budweiser as everywhere else here in taidong...

We also got some additional dishes...

The chelsea brunch place looks international...

We ended the day by visiting RT-mart...so interesting...

Taidong has an RT-mart...

Before leaving we tried some Aladdin...peak of happines and peak of melancholy at the same time...

I also bought some fruit that taidong is famous for...

neutral and pineapple flavour...

and also managed to find many tourist spots, before leaving...more reasons to return...

gers, paragliding...

Second highest lake in taiwan...snowy mountains...

I might go there next week...

Many scenic sights near the coast too...
Baibai taidong...
Back in taipei...same country, but here the police carried asault rifle, and they actuallt stop vehicles to check licenes. ofceourse they do it on the same place, so that the maffia dont need to go there, and no disturbance apears, same same but different...Taidong-Taipei 2-0

I finally saw some 3000 year old thing in taiwan (In Taidong)...

I went to Taidong yesterday. Here im exporing the culture of the taiwan country side again, and meet some aboriginals...
I met a Paiwan...
But here there are most Amis...
The east coast are most populated with chinese ppl
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwanese_aborigines
omg, Thao had only 281 ppl left year 2000, i wanna go there and see who/whats left...
Yesterday I passed by ikea in taipei to buy some swedish things for the faimly where I stayed at...

EAting Mcdonalds food in the train...

Omg, 1 person working, and three observing...thats efficient...

Hualien...

Yuli...such an isolated place...I better return here some day...

Wow, finally Taidong...

Here people leave their bags for a while unsupervised...thats taidong...

And no helmet...just as the east coast I remember...

My friends place looks like I remember it...

Traffic lights are more like a recommendation...

One of the two giant stores...I passed by lat year when I cycled around taiwan...

Later we went to a burger bar...with interesting arts...

Only chinese menus in this part of taiwan...

All you can eat for 249NT...including pizza...however the whole talbe must take the same offer...so I couldnt  buy it...

Lizzards on the wall...

"La casa mia", popular among the locals...and visitors...

 I had a 7inch hawaii pizza...

 And a burger...

Omg, we passed by "Obama cake" later on that day..they have 2 of these in taidong...

We also went ot the coastline, where we also went last time...now the "globe" was finnaly done...nice lights...

Switching...red...blue...green...etc...it was where they use to have an ancient aboriginal hut, but a typhoon last year destroyed it...

They also had many maps here...and information about the pacific ocean...

Distans to vietnam...not that far only 1620km...

Omg, Xiaoluiqui and orchid island has the same distance from Taidong...orchid island is really far away...

Guan, an "american island" where the nearest skydiving is...about 2671km away...

Fiji 7185km away (I think most of these places has related aboriginals as taiwan)...

Looks like a ufo or something...in the dark...I wonder how many typhoons it will stand...(its right at the ocean)...

Here is the place for the aboriginal house...

It says "welcome" or something in some language...

Omg, a chirstmas tree near the county office...

Wow, Carrefour in Taidong...thats exclusive...

And Taigonds highest buirlgin (i think), abandoned...

And a night market nearby...

Wow, cheaper than Taipei...how can that be...the kiwis is not ever from here...

An aboriginal guard...

I bought some Calpis juice...

A guard is guarding the abandoned building...

We passed by "a plce caleld "red house" , maybe inspiried from the place with similar name in taipei...

We also went back to my rineds grandmas house...where they make famous food...

 A baozi without anything inside..(Mantou)....

I also got noodles...

They had an intersting map (only 2 years old), showing some roads to cross the island...maybe I will go there next week...

Road 20 and 23...

Many scooters at aour next stop...

It was an awesome place from where we could see the whole city...

No mosquitos, and not warm...it was perfect...

And a pig walking around in the grass...

Its a good way to get rid of left overs...to fed it...

no english menu...

We also bought a deck of cards...and played taiwanese games...

The paraffin lamps reminded me of my summer house at the swedish west coast...

We played 3-4 different games...while sipping hot chocolate...

The pig eventuallt got tired...

Next stop: the red house...

We had a special offer for budweiser...not sure why, but this seems to be a popular beer here in taidong...

The waiter was funny...

It was an adventure...

Putting effort in finishing the beer...

My friend were a little slower...

An intersting flower store...open 3am on a wednesday...

Back to the house...tomorrow is another day...

...that starts with playing computer games...thats what taidong teens lie the most (i guess) since they talk about it alot...

"leauge of legends"...a kind of fun game...

And the first stop of the day: The prehistoric museum of taiwan (one of the goals of thie taidong trip)...

Discounts for taigond people...

 English information...so professional...

I had my student ID (taiwanese and swedish)...

Wow...same ticekt system as the railway...

The first exhibition was about german people and their connection to some aboriginals...

And the classical aboriginal dance I saw in sunmoon lake and ona painting on road 9 between fenggang and taidong some year ago...

Kivala, some word on one of the many aboriginal languages...

Cool dresses, I wonder why they dont sell more of these in taiwan...like in suth america every tourist store is full of these colourfull patterns...maybe the non aboriginals dont wanna expose aboriginal things...

This city is the "sister town" in germany, near frankfurt I think...

This chinese characters is the name...

 Wow...indians...

And here I finally saw it...and archeological exhibition in taiwan...i like...

Its in Peinan, where I stay herein taidong...

Here are the mountian ridges of taiwan...

No wonder there are earthquakes almost every day in taiwan (or several every day, for doubters, please visit: http://www.cwb.gov.tw/eng/index.htm)...

Wow...the eastenr part of taiwan is on adifferent continental plateau, no wonder it shakes alot...

This is how taiwan use to look like...to bad no pandas went here...I saw some bamboo forrest near alishan where I think they could have lived...

And glaciers in Xueshan...that is cool...

Omg...Air pollution...no real solution, since most taiwanese voters are scooter drivers...they might continue driving forever...

And some exhibition where they used Sherlock Holmes, Im not sure why...since the exhibition had nothing to do with him...

Weird...

Semimusimuk...aboriginal language...

And skeletons...
Wher can I see the old traces of life in taiwan today? At a rice field in Paishgnan...

or a rice field in Niaosung...

Many pots where made by taiwanese ppl thousands of years ago...same as home...

They had different designs, and sizes...

They even had an iron age here...

And they use "bopomofo", a taiwanese version of pinyin...for kids to read the characters...I wonder how many kids understands bopomofo, that cant read chinese characters (these easy ones)...

Wow, so many sites (The red spots) where archeological findings has been made in taiwan...

Another old site, where there now is a city...

and this site is not a rice field today...but it is "abandon agriculture field and tombs", maybe I still can go and see it...

Just as sweden has an ice age in the 1300 taiwan has a period of hard times to...why its hard to find findings (even tainan was covered with water during many years)...

Under "Hua-kang-shan stadium" in hualien there were some findings...

And in fushan (i think north of taidong)..., now agriculutre field...

And a rice field in tainan...

Omg...the aboriginal languages are spread to many places (the most spread language in the world)...

 ethnic group: Atayal...

Like in the movie "Seediq Bale", reminding me of the aboriginals in new zeeland...

ethinc group: Paiwan, like my friend Peiche in taidong...

Amis, they are at the east coast between taidong and hualien...

Some aboriginals looks like philippinos and indonesians...no wonder...since they use to travel all over the palce...

Ethic group: Puyuma...

Ethic group: Rukai...

 Ethic group: Saisiat...

EThic group: Tsou...warriors...

Ethic group: Bunun...

The bunun people used wichcraft...unfortunetely christians changed the culture...

And healing was used by Kavalan people...

Same system as in Korea...age matters (the older the better for Sakizaya people)...

They were big beleivers of nature...the Truku people (Gaya (gaia) theory was used)...

Omg, Seediq...like in Seediq bale...seems like they live near hsinchu...

Thao ppl lived near sunmoon lake...I should check for the warriors next tim I go there...

Austroneasian speaking people: "geographically, they are the most widely distributed language group in the world"...from africa to near south america (but not crossing the atlantic ocean)...

ten primary branches of this language is found in taiwan...

My friends were bored...(I might also be, if i went to a swedish museum)...they just sat and waited for me to inhale aboriginal information...

Some special expos at the museum...next time I might go th the guide rouge resrurant in the area...now we went downtown instead...

To a japanese restaurant...

 Teppanyaki...

 Omg. a 3000nt lunch...

My friend thought I wanted a 800-900nt lunch, i thought it was a little much, after all we are in the chaep country side of taiwan...

Squid...

Green or brown bean...ye, they eat is sweet here in taidong as well...

Bojun was the last one to finish as usual...

They closed almost when we came, but kept open andohter hour...the cheif knew alot about european food...
Omg, Taidong universoty...so special...

Maybe I shoulds tudy here some time...they dont have that many departments...but I will tkae what they offer...

The main entrance...

My friends favorite place in taidong...a book store...

They had an exhibition...reminded me of bosco...

And a nice back yard for reading...

Intersing, this guy has connections to sweden...

Omg, at this park, no dogs, no footbals, no littering, no people in a box, no cars (this was at a parking lot), no strollers, no smelly things..(maybe its BBQ)...

Wow, one of the higest buldings in taipei, the hotel I leved in then i did my first ironman...

Some are place...

 A famous tea store...

The most expensive thing was 45Nt, thats much cheaper than taipei where i often find 60-80nt drinks...

A hut from the old times...

The next stop was a site where we could see a tomb...

 It was a park...

 And they had orienteering stops...

 And amphitheaters...

My taidong friend enjoyed talking to the guards at the place...

"blind peoaple only" (i was told)...so funny...if u can see, are u prohibitedto walk near this line then?

A nice view over the city...

 Green island in the horizon...

Orchid island far away...

But I could not see it...

The cliffs here are famous for beeing "dead"...

And here the tomd was...

Finally, after 4 years, I found a site thats older than the spanish fortress in tamsui...

HESS language school...a reason for foreingers to work here...

We went north on road 11, and found an aboriginal village...

I could not take pics inside their expo hall, but they had nice hardcrafts, even using Swedish absolute vodka bottles...

And some nice place to drink...

"amis" the name of the tribe living here...

And nice bags...I bought some cards...

And supported their "no nukes" program, they were complaining alot, avbout a new hotel that was build here on the sout east coast, without governmental permission, but since the culture here is that u have to follow the authorities, its hard for the sociaty to act, when some gangsters act "outseide the culture patterns":..the locals (who were super good in english) gave away flyers...

...about the coastline hotel that will destroy the sensite coral rief...maybe its the same attitude as with scooters...that environment is a secondary issue...economical growth is prio 1 (american style)... :P

Some nice cafeteria with aboriginal people (i think)...

More propaganda...

They also had a sugar facotry that was famous at this place...

Else we continued north...I wanted to cross the mountians...

We tood road 23...

Omg..,"watch out for monkeys"...

it was dark. maybe the monkeys were sleeping...

 Some statues but no monkeys...

We didnt see any monkeys...but continued to an aboriginal restaurant...

WIth food from many tribes...

Not sure which dish belonged to which tribe though...

 Some pork...

It started to rain alot...but we had roof...even if it waws outside...the beauty of taidong is that even the winter is warm...

Back to home...playing some games...

I was taght how to play "leauge of legend"...

 It was fun...

They had interesting pictures of different characters...

And the game was free to download, but if one wanted to upgrade faster than just playing to earn bonuses,. One could buy extra bonus...

Later we continued to a bar...where they had live band...

Many different groups performing...

Some guys were preparing the show...

"Who´s" was the bars name...minimum charge 300nt...per person...

 Wow, emergency exit...thats modern...

I had a kalhua with milk (even if i ordered a baileys with milk)...it was really small...(250nt)...

The guys playing wer cute...some philippino people...

And they played good songs to...bothenglish and chinese songs...

Some philippino girls danced (not sure if they were staff)...

And a girl had her virthday...

The guitar player had a mullet just like me...
This badn was also there (but they didnt play), i guess they take turns...
We were the only customers there, after 1 am...taidong is not a party place on a thursday....atleast not this thursday...

Tuesdays adventure...

I started the day with a brunch at taipei main station...

A place i seldom go to...since its often full...
MY friends had breadkfast...

Mostly european style i guess...(or american)...

 I had a hamburger...

Later I went to Dihua street...a crowded street, before chinese new year...

The traffic lights created long queues on the street...

 They were selling candies...(asian style)...

And moste things were in red and gold...

And many things one can try...

 Slimy stuff...

The main entrance was not far from the bus station...

 Many strands...

And wheat or soemthings from different parts of the world...

And peanuts for girls and boys...

And the cracker I tried in Xianluiqui outh of kaohsiung with my friend Allen last year...

 Lego candies...

Dry prawns...and fish and other insects...its hard to know if its sweet or salt, vegetarian or non-vegetarian what u eat from these markets...

Another stands selling peanuts aimed for boys...

 Alishan tea...

 A temple for single people...

 Many tai ppl praying...

 Slime candies...

 Meat skewers...

 Boy and girl nuts again...

This lady wanted to take pics with us before we left...soe kind of advertisement for some taipei magazine...

A tram near taipei main station...

And i bought train tickets to taidong...(its hard to get tickets for things nowadays...chinese new year is a week of the year when chinese countries stands still...chaotic...

This store is useful, they sell 300nt phonecards for 250nt...I must buy my card here next time...

The store can be found here...

I went to TLI after this...wow so lucky...cruising downtown, and find the street directly (this is another language school on the same street)...

Taipei Language Institute...

Later I went to kgb burgers...

The waiter was from the philippine...same as my friend who joined me...he thought her name was Maria, I asked, and it was correct, it was a typical philippino name...

I had a blue cheese burger...
They had beer from many parts of the world...

A new burger bar visit in ximen shopping district...

I went to a burger bar in ximen tonight...
Choir cafe...
Omg, the first thing I see is a "Herrljunga cider" bottle (herrljunga is close to my hometown in sweden).....
They also sell "pear cider"...swedish...
And lingonberry (cowberry) jam...seems like someone visited ikea, or something...
I ordered a burger with guacamole...didnt get that much thought, but the burger was very good...
I was doing superheroes the whole visit...more or less...

Swing cap bottles is "da shit"...

I saved some swing cap bottles...
It makes it very easy to bottle the beer...

Found a taiwan pilsner...

I went to a new beer bar tonight...

Barhi, in the northern parts of taipei... (Bahai in pinyin, i think)

At the entrance they had a "lufthansa" airplane...some company gave them it...so they put it at the entra,ce to make it look german or something... (Vincent the owner told me)...

They had 5 kinds of beer,,,

A proud airplane...so funny, I would never see this home in sweden...

We got some snax...I ate it all, but was later on told just to eat the inner part (not sure why the spices was on the outside, if it was not to eat)...

The was had a description about how to brew their beer...

French fries was also ordered...

I asked for four kinds...and found them taste exactly like yilan beer...

They even looked like yilan beer except for the pilsner...

This tasted the same (bread with butter), my favorite dark beer...
What does it say? please email me...if u know...
Bashi, was the name of the beer...
The owner of yilan beer and Bashi was there...and told me that they only sell their Pilsner in this store...I wonder why...
They had a clear emegency exit...thats safe (better than luxy, that tries to squeese in as many customers as possible, no safety thinking at all)...
I also told Vincet that the bottles were pretty hard to open, if he could chnage them...then he showed me this device....that I never seen before...I know that Ble d´or bear has a opener included in the purchase....but never yilan beer...I was asked to ask for an opener next time i buy things...
Next stop was ikea...where I bought chocolate and brown sauce...
They also gave away some food, ofcourse many people gathered to taste...whatever it is...
After that I went to a cheap all you cna eat hotpot, same company as the one in ximen, but this was in nanjing east road...
As usual I started with some dessert, then I went all in on corn sticks...
...and prawns...
Some taiwanese ice cream...
Sunday was heading to an end...

A day in the ice rink...

I went skate today...

...ice skating...the regulation said, i did not need helmet...but I needed these thin pair of gloves...I wonder the logic in that...

Many people were on the ice...we had 2 hours to skate...

A guy with "H Sedin" shirt...

Cute kids playinghockey, must have lived in a cold country...I never heard tai ppl talk about hockey...

After 30 mins, we had to leave the ice for 30 mins...to clean the ice...

"H. Sedin" had his friend there, who was wearing a "D- Sedin" shirt...omg, both twins were prepresented...

My skates has ski boot bindings...

My firned Jacquese borrowed my skates for a while...

This girl was skillful on the ice...

Doing alot of acrobatic things...

And these kids were also super cute...

The girl had an interesting cape...

After the skating we went ot "jollys" where we planned to participate in the beer drinking competition,, but it was kind of full...so we went to another place...

Called the brass monkey...

They had Kopparbergs cider...my friend is working with them seems like he is doing a nice job...
I had a white beer...super nice...
My friend had a kopparbergs...omg, what a small bottle...they filled the glass with ice to the top...
He had fish and chips...super nice...
I had their bggest burger...
But the plate was so small...it will be a mess on the table...
After a while they started to show rugby live...
Whales vs Ireland...
Many foreigners...
Making noise...
It was fun...
However I did not stay the whole game out...

Saturday night...

I went to taipei expo for a book fair...

I dont like to buy things that I dont need...so I seldom buy things like this...
Later on i spent thousands of dollars on drinks..I wonder, are books worth less than an experience in culinary delights...?

I liked this batman book...(lego batman included)...

They also had "superhearoes" book...in the book to the right they showed how to paint and use photoshop...it was interesting...(i ended up buying the one to the left)...

They also has a speakers corner...

And many countries represented...but not that many ppl from those countries...

 Finland...

 Sweden...

 Some cook books...

 Swedish celebs (locally and globally)...

 And many other books...

And some nice books at the latin american stand...

 Omg, my friends house...

No person was there...just some books...

Nice "feel good" books...

Mumin at the finish stand...

This was a best seller...atleast they were selling it at many places...

Later we passed by my friends office...

And went for some spicy noodles...

This is a nice thai allyoucaneat restaurant...
And this is a nice burgerbar with "2 hours all you can drink" offer...
We were looking for cheap beers...

We ended up at "on tap"...

 Boddingtons beer...

We continued to "park" a bar I never been to before...

Passing "milo milo"...one of the few swedish resturants in taipei...

And went to La bocca...where they had some horse on wheels, reminding me of a dalahäst...

I had some strong drink "blue berry long island"...it was 5 blueberries on top...

MY friend was working while drinking...

We continued back to park...Where the sink faucet in the toilet was interesting, the water almost touched the bar...

We met the owner of a new place near by...

He wanted help to finish his 80% drink bottle...i didnt feel that it was that strong...but might have had 2-3 dl...

Super funny guy...

I got some 7-up drink later...

And these toy boys were giving away svedka vodka...
"Imported sweden"...I had to try these flavours...
I later on continied to ximen...omg, no scooters allowed near the tpe main station...its like cycling at home...I love it...
At ximen, the waiter recommended me "around the world"...not super good...but the roange was on fire when i got the drink...
And I got a green cherry...
it was green partly due to green oranges in the bottom...
350nt for the drink...and antother 150nt for a apple cinnamon tea...
And this book was about 200nt...hmm, I should start reading more, and drinking less...
Later on I fried a pork steak...
and added alot of garlic (i have been eating alot of garlic recently)...
Butter in the mashed potatoes "så ska en slipsten dras"...
And gräddsås (cheating by using half fabricated items)...

And drinking the last beer of my first homebrew...

Thursdays adventure...

I was about to visit a place called California grill...according to google map it existed near Guting, Taipei...
But when I came there was some asian store there...Instead I went to this place...
I seen the place before...
I went with an old classmate...he use to work at an airline company...
The restaurant was very slow with the orders...
I had their 3 meat burger...

Later on we went to ikea...

My friend likes sweden, he knows strange swedes like Peter Jöback etc...I wonder how he got to know these ppl...

They sell "herrgårds Aquavit" at ikea...I wonder who will buy it...

I had icecream, julmust and chocolate...omg, I been buying these many times recently...

We also went to the ice rink...

Later I saw some samurai guy dancing around on the street...

Later in the night I went to Tamsui, to a kebab place...

It was kind of indian/pakistan...they had interesting hookas, or some similar looking thing...

Both for try and to buy...

I planned to go here many times, but ithas either been closed, or I had no time...

Now I bought their beef roll...not like swedish kebab, but still ok...

I also passed by Mcdonalds...where they sell red bean pie...omg...

And later I stopped by a Paulaner resturant with view over taipei city...I went here last summer as well...
Taipei 101 can be seen far away...
They sell paulaner in Gothenburg as well, even at ICA...its one of my favorite beers...(Weissbeer)...
The pizza is super expensive...
They had a button for "smoke maual station", I wonder what that means...
They have 2-3 kinds of beer, and then also many flavors...
They also had some discount depending on outside temperature...up to 50% off, if it was 15 degrees outside, today it was 17-18 degrees...
But only discount of a dish that costs 2880NT (for 2 ppl)...(Aboud 700SEK)...
I had a turtle soup...I thought it would be more european than this...just some turtle left overs boiled in water...
Hmm...reminded me of the taiwanese nightmarket (snake alley)...
Later we went tot G2 Paradise...
I had a chocolate raspberry...
I finished the day with exotic fruits...not sure why star fruit feels so exotic compare to other fruits...

Chocolate again...

I finished 2-3 chocolate bars per day recently...
Especially swedish chocolate is highly appreciated...

Wine n cheese, wine n cheese...

That wine and cheese can b that good...
The lack of interesting food, makes one appreciate the basics of life...
