It was a mix of slime...cocnut slipme, black pearl starch etc...and passion fruit flavour...super nice...
A girl from korea visit chinese class...
My teacher made sure that she met all guys in class to motivate herto stay...so cute...
Later I headed to box, an all u can drink night club...but the girl hunters changed their plan for the night...and headed to luxy...so I also aborted my plan...
And went to the calm and cosy Yilan beer bar...
For som barley
And cheese sticks...super nice...
And there I tried to study chinese...I have a test on friday...
2013 continues...

Tuesday evening

I did my own burger this evening...but it has beenin the freezerforquite a while..so the bread was kind of dry, i need to heat it up more next time...
Else it was ok, I was looking forward for the crispy cheese...on the meat...
A short visit to costco was also paid...
Omg, 3-4 liter of juice for 139nt...thats like half the price of what carrefour charges...
I had to buy a bottle...
It was almost a year since I ate buffalo wings with goat cheese (atleast how it feels)...10 kg lighter...it was kind of heavy food...I need to train my body to eat more of this...
Alot of protein...should I join the LCHF clan...then I can eat this every day...thats so nice...

Mondays fasting...

Fasting today...it often feels nice the day after fasting...
Baoderui, my indian classmate also felt motivated...but not for fasting, but for studying...
Screw....pizza and wine...hmm...baibai fasting thought...but its so good, living in taiwan, one really learn to appreciate cheese, wine and other dairy products...

A quick visit to the hotpot...

I went to the hoptpot in ximen this night...
But it was before 22.00 so it was 50% more expensive...Bit tated as good...
This time I also tried frnech fries...
And oyster...
And they also had mango...I finished the visit with a drink at the red building...

Searching for the 20cm ridge at Shiding

Today I took bus 666 to Shiding...south of taipei...looking for a 20cm wide ridge...
Bus 666 goes to Shiding form Jingmei MRT station...
Pretty sunny day...
Feels safe...
We followed the river uphill...
7-11 and McDonalds are dosplayed on the bus route...
They also had pink harassment whistles...
More mountains...
Shidind is a nice place...a little alp feeling...
We passed by some local convenient store to buy snacks...
Nice place...looks kind of non-taiwanese...
Big fish in the river...
And some red bricked house...thats common among old houses here in taiwan...
And the "open plaza"...like an italian square...
Maybe I should invest in a house here someday...
Some wedding pictures...
"Huanddi Temple Trail" is the one we were heading for...
Here it starts...
Thousands of stairs...probably...
Time for some refill of the bottles in the 30+ temperature...
I olny brought 1-2liters of water...(and one bottle of kopparbergs elderflower cider)...
More stairs...(like in dabajian shan)...I wonder if they carried the blocks here, from downtown, or went from the top, with helicopter....
Taipei 101 inthe horizon...the city is nearby...
The path continues a little muddy...
And alot of rots...
They made some steps in the rock...
Is this the way up to the 20cm ridge? OSkar had to check...
Hmm...I thought it looked a little steep from the path...but oskar stayed optimistic...
After some half hours walking we were pretty high...and could see taipei, maybe nanjing...(the east part)...
More cliffs...
We had to climb...
I also saw alot of lizzards...
More chains...
It was fun...it felt like we really were out in the wild for once...no stairs of other equipment for lazy climbers...
Is this the 20cm ridge?
Or this?
Or this? It was pretty steep the the left...
Oskar liked the view...
Omg. a temple in the middle of nowhere...
Maybe that is the ridge....
Not that far...but looks pretty steep...
More ladders to climb...
Another ridge...
No...not 20cm...
This was almost 20cm...
Maybe 30 cm here...
More chain climbing...
Some rumors had it that a munk lives here who served tea...
Oskar thought he found the ridge here...
Ye, it was like 20cm...
A 30-40cm fence was there to that we felt safe from falling 30-40 meters down...
More climbing...
We passed the west peak of this temple trail and was heaing for the east peak..
Pretty hot...30+, soon time to open the "summit cider"...
Oskar was looking for other 20cm ridges...
Maybe this one...?
A symbol you seldom see in europe...even illegal in some countries...but here its accossiates with sun, buddha and peace...culture is different...
More exciting places...
Luckily it didnt rain, else it could have been a little slippery...
Oskar wish he had brought his system camera...
Omg, this is like exactly 20 cm...
or 19.5 cm....that will do...we found it, mission complete...
Suddenly everything was 20 cm...
A small long ridge...
Some locals, who recently went to xueshan...same as oskar...
More chains...
East peak was not far...
Just some climbing...oskar took the tunnel to the peak...
Yippi, east peak...20cm ridge trail - check!
Now we took the stairs down...from the other side...
Some old house...maybe some aboriginal, or japanese occupants built it...
Hmm, some distances seemed to be totally wrong...I wonder who measured it...
Some random store...we were told that alot of people use to walk this trail...so it must have been good business here...
THey even were selling gloves...for the chains...
Nice bridge...over the reiver heading to Shiding...
Back in shiding...it looked a little like wulai and some other cities nearby...
Some locals talking about some trails...
Freeway 5...connecting taipei and yilan...
Oskar was streching..
And later we discuessed the book Catch 22...a great book, reminds alot of the life in taiwan..."no why" society...

A night outside luxy

Its saturday, so some people wanna go clubbing, even if its summer time, so most foreingers go hoem of something, if they have money to travel, that is...
I went to luxy...
Meeting Oskar...with his Björn Borg underwear...
We went to 7-11...omg the 7-11 beer changed look...
Many foreingers at 7-11...
They have a nice roof outside to block the noise...
And a cool 7-11 watch inside...
I met an american who jst been to taiwan for 2 days, he is looking for english teaching jobs...
I also observed that hte 7-11 staff was uber afraid that this will break...I accidently touched it...and they reacted directly...wierd...since its a little elastic and stretchable...

A visit to Fika Fika Cafe...and a random burgerbar...

Fika fika...(http://www.fikafikacafe.com), a cafe in taipei city has a taiwanese owner...
Who is said to be impressed by scandinavian design...
They had some cinnamon buns and other things common at home...
It was pretty full, but after some time they had a seat...
"Beware of frozen finger"....hmm...ok?
The toilet was small, capacity for like 50 guests...maybe they should have had 2 toilets...
Omg, an english school or something...The flag to the up left looks interesting...some new design of the australian one?
Later a visit to Gary Bee´69 was paid...
It was a burgerbar...with american theme..
Interesting layout of their menu...
But the burger was wierd...I had the biggest one...
Te bread/meat ration was atleast 2...thats fake...like the burgerbar in Yilan i visited some month ago...hmm...

Friday night class and BBQ

Had a birthday celebration at chinese class today...
Wich some cake and tea...
Wow...they had english menu...fantastic...
And shrimps...I ordered 20 but got 5 as usual...
And Bar beer...
And salad...
What did johan eat today? well its just displayed...plus some marshmallows...

Jokes of the week

Joke 1: flight: Taiwan - Malaysia 1500nt...(but still not a joke)...
Joke 2: a co-worker citicized europeans to be less spontaneous than taiwanese, and said that they are picky with work descriptions. Why ask for a programmer if u need a bus driver? interesting logic...
Joke 3: I did a medical check up today, and most people who exersice more than "normal" got wierd "estimatet body age"...I got 45!?!?! i wonder how taiwanese doctors calculate...
Is it common among 45 year old people to do a couple of iron man and several ultra marathons (atleast within the last year) plus exersice regularly?

An interview at Bravo burger

I met some people working at Enspyre, the same company that visited the GMBA programs seminar course last year...
They wanted to ask questions about studying in taiwan vs studying in sweden...
And my friend Oskar wanted to try Bravo Burger at gongguan, to see if it was as good as his favorite burger bar near Zhongxiao dunhua called 1885...
He is very picky...he also brought one of his LEPs...
This was my burger, I had their biggest one...
Oskar had some activites going on on his cell phone as well...he is "such a guy"...

Another chinese class

A new guy showed up at the class today...
He was from Surabaya in indonesia...I impressed him with some words I learned when I was there...he lives in Taipei main station, at the same place as my friend Johan use to live...so interesting...
My classmate had her birthday...so we got some cakes...
A sesamy bun...
Anda peanut bun...
Plus some other cake...
Coffee flavour I was told...
Later I went to buy juice...120nt for these two...so expensive...hmm, its better if i buy juice at costco next time...I think...

Cowboy steak house and a visit to the driving range...

Where to eat tonight?...hmm...
This place I visited some month ago, but then it was full...
A taiwanese steak house...
But with free refill of garlic bread...
Ans soup and salad...
Nice, I was full even before the meat arrived...
Some random steak..the gratain was soso...
I asked for raw...(3 minutes)...nice...but it never taste like home, next time I should bring brunsås...
Later I went to the driving range nearby...
It was in banqiao...
The golf ball machine...
And some instructions...
Tony the guy, wanted to sell his golf class to me...
I said "i will think about it"...and went to get a beer...it was a nice tuesday...

Monday chense class

Steve Smith was at the class this monday...
It was fun...
We went to the burrito place in Shida after class...
They played some swedish songs there...
This is the name...
It looks a little like a kebab wrap, its about 250nt or something, so not super cheap...
I also went all in for fruit and juice...

A visit to Fulong

I paid a visit to fulong beach yesterday...
Starting by buying some cups at the local carrefour in taipei...
Catching the train...
That was in last second...Oskar joined, he brought his chinese book, and so did I...
Many people heading to Fulong today...
There were some kind of festival this weekend...
Alot of policemen...
And Kopparbergs stand...I like!
Wildberries...
Joel and Gwen...and Megan...
And a guy with tattooes...
And oskar with his swedish cap...
And some local beer girls...
The bridge over to Fulong beach...
They had like 50-100 guards standing on the bridge, and even more at the beach...since taiwanese people cannormally not swim...
I wonder how much they get paid per hour...
From thebridge I can see Joels house...pretty nice...
Many tents...its a commercial jippo...
Only some 100 meters were availalbe....
Oskar changeing clothes onthe beach...so macho...
Some loclas promoting not to take drugs...
Most psrta of the beach was closed...
Oskar was not allowed to leave his bag near mine, some local beach patrol said, he started to ask "why"...but I asked him just to do as they say, questionizing the logic of locasl here, especially if they have power, is not a good idea...so here is oskars bag...in the middle of nowhere...
Later we visited the night market area...or just "Market area"...
Many beer brands were here...
The maffia beer...
Some crazy BBQ indian...pretty entertaining...
Budweiser...close to water...the second largest ber company in the world...
Bar beer....its common here in taiwan...
Super bock, "suits me" said oskar...and mingeled around...
More staff on the bridge...
They needed somthing to hold up the rope, and since its to expensive to fix poles...they hired locals...
Joel was still at the fulong main street...playing swedish music...
Some local dog sat nearby him...
It had one brown and one blue eye...
And also some church was nearby...interesting...
His speakers had my initials...
Oskar was texsting taipei people preparing the night...
From Joels house the view was awesome...
Here is Joel...enjoying the taiwanese summer...
Some nuklear power plant near the beach...
We went to some local bar later...
Joel was carrying his Pripps blå T-shirt...promoting his beer...
The people here were drinking Kopparbergs cider...
They played pretty good music here...
Interesting blender...
Fuling night market in the night...
A new round to the beach was done...
The bug stage...playing some music...almost like spring scream in kenting...
Alot of entertainment and beer promotion...
I bought oysters...
But they forced them open, and they were pretty cold...and perhams not fresh, i started to remember some oyster I saw in Thailand that was 3 days old, and still for sale on themarket...
More drinks...
But we had some beer...
And oyster...this time more prepared...
Some beer lao...
A dutch guy I spoke with was in some dancing competition...
Not sure if he won...
Maybe only foreigners were participating...
More beer...
More beer girls...
Back to the night market...
And a ride home...that was nice...
Joels convertable...back to taipei...it was a nice day...

Mudrun

I went to a mud run yesterday...and some beer bars...
The race was in the middle of taiwan...so we took the bus from taipei main station...
Many people were there...
We got some free things...like a scarf...it reminded me of the scarf I got from ABB when I did a company visit there some years ago...not sure about this one..the difference between "scarf" and "scarf" and how the first "scarf" was designed...
My friend recommended Catch 22, its s good reflection about some cultures, like the taiwanese one, once in a while...
Many people were sleeping on the bus...but we had a nice chat...
Well at the race area we had to walk to some hill...
Some international company "merrell" were you hosting...
We had some tattoos that we needed to paste...i had some problems with mine...
Oskar was prepared for the mudrun...
I made some "ones" by myself...
It was interesting, they had some numbers "0-800" "800-1200" etc, but only for decoration...people were sorted by distance in the race...
Oskar had a lunch voucher, i did not get one...but they said I could take the food anyway...
Nice view of the city...
And many freebees...
No trash cans...
People were getting new tattoos...as well...
It was a big city...
And some common warm up...
Just like Goteborgsvarvet in Gothenburg...
And many hills around the city...
Now the race was starting...
After some hour it was over...covered in mud...
More freebees...
It was hard to get clean...but we felt clean enought to pay a visit to the city...
Just had to finish the lunch box, consisting of some interesting bread...
Oskar was streching...
Here in the mud, people were suppose to clean themselves up after the race...
We asked some random people for a burgerbar...
And headed downtown...oskar fell asleep...
Or almost...
Omg, a flajjraven bag...mopre and more people are using these nowadays...
In this city in the middle of taiwan, one can use the bus card from any other city in taiwan, thats pretty conveinient...
We were recommended this burger bar..
Atleast it was central...
And famous...Oskar was not impressed...
The menu was all in chinese...
I met a friend who was christian, so interesting...
I ordered the biggest burger they had...
It 4 meat patties...
Oskar had some pineapple burger...
But the meat patties were kind of crappy, we both agreed upon...
Next stop a beer bar...
Omg, a hocker house...
This was the beer bar of the day..."Deluxe brewhouse"...
It looked the same sine I was here last time...
They "amerian eagle" logo...
I started with a weissbeer...
They charged us 250nt, ans claimed it was "salsa night"...so we had to pay extra...so useless, the onkly difference from other nights was that they had salsa music in the background...
And that some local people were dresseup up...
Some guy looked like Ironman...
And some people were dancing...
I had some barley beer later on...
 And got some chichen nuggets...
Oskar was headingfor a girl looking lake laura croft...
 Hmm...slowly approaching...
 And makeing contact...
They seemed nice...
Even the guy at the cachier was ok, but he told us different things than the waitress about the price...travelling in asia for some years u know all their tricks...
Anyway, I refused to accept anything else than the offer they first told me...
I also passed by Mcdonalds for a Mcflurry...after the beer bar...
Taixhong train station...
Late night in Taizhong...heading back to taipei...

Late night hotpot...

Saturday in july

We were heading for a hash run in Wulai today...
Or near by Wulai, me and some friends...
We took the bus from Xindian, Taipei...
Oskar went to the bus driver and asked for directions etc...
He asked in chinese...we were not sure how to interpret the description...
We left the bus where the driver told us to...but no one here...time to call the guy in charge...
Ask some locals...since the guy in charge didnt pick up...
Some other locals...
And some running girl...
And a taxi driver...
He drove us to some place...
...but we were not sure it was there...
 Hmm...nope, no hash run...
We went for some river tracing instead...
Just one last person to ask, at a random hotel in wulai...
We bought some drinks, and then went for the river path...
Due to a recent typhoon, it was alot of water...
Thats the river which we are going trace...
Some chinese info...
Oskar was in the lead...
It was pretty hot, but due to the typhoon, a little colder than a normal july day...
An artifical waterfall...

Back from the river trace after an hour...waiting for the bus...
